Serve it over rice, noodles, or wrap it in lettuce for a lighter option — it’s totally customizable and always satisfying.
Ingredients
For the Stir Fry Sauce:
-
½ cup low sodium soy sauce or coconut aminos
-
¼ cup fresh-squeezed orange juice (about 1 large orange)
-
1 tbsp rice vinegar
-
½ tsp grated fresh ginger
-
2 garlic cloves, minced
-
1 tbsp honey or brown sugar
-
1 tbsp cornstarch or tapioca starch
For the Stir Fry:
-
2 lbs flank steak, thinly sliced against the grain (see note)
-
½ tsp kosher salt
-
¼ tsp black pepper
-
2 tbsp sesame oil (or olive/avocado oil)
-
1 red bell pepper, sliced
-
3 cups broccoli florets
-
2 large carrots, peeled and sliced
-
2 cups snow peas (or snap peas)
-
1 bunch baby bok choy, stalks and leaves separated
Optional Garnish:
-
Sliced green onions
-
Sesame seeds
-
Red pepper flakes
To Serve:
-
White rice, brown rice, noodles, or lettuce cups
Tip: Try rice cooked in bone broth for extra flavor and protein!
Instructions
1. Make the Sauce:
In a small bowl, whisk together all sauce ingredients. Set aside.
2. Prep the Steak:
Season steak with salt and pepper. Slice thinly against the grain (about 3-inch strips).
Tip: Freeze the steak for 30 minutes beforehand to make slicing easier!
3. Sear the Beef:
Heat 1 tbsp of sesame oil in a large wok or skillet over medium-high heat. Once hot and shimmering, sear steak in batches, cooking for ~2 minutes per side. Avoid overcrowding. Remove to a plate.
4. Cook the Veggies:
Lower heat to medium and add remaining 1 tbsp oil. Scrape up any browned bits. Add bell pepper, broccoli, carrots, snow peas, and bok choy stalks. Stir-fry for 5–6 minutes until almost tender.
5. Add Sauce & Finish:
Pour in the sauce and bring to a gentle boil. Stir for 2–3 minutes until it thickens. Return steak to the pan and add bok choy leaves. Stir to coat everything and wilt the greens.
6. Serve:
Spoon over rice, noodles, or into lettuce wraps. Garnish with sesame seeds, green onions, or red pepper flakes.
Recipe Notes
Flank Steak Substitutes:
Skirt steak or flat iron steak also work if flank isn’t available.
